FortiGate 60F: The Best Budget Friendly Firewall

The fortigate 60f Malaysia occupies a desirable sweet spot in the middle of Fortinet’s entry-level range of UTM appliances, providing excellent specifications at a cost that SMBs will find to be extremely reasonable.

With connectedness as a foundation.

The 60F has five Gigabit LAN ports, two WAN/failover ports, and a DMZ connector, but no Wi-Fi. Two more sockets can be used as extra LAN ports or for managing locally connected FortiSwitch units. With Fortinet’s unique security processing unit (SPU), the appliance has a raw firewall throughput of 10 Gbits/sec, enough to manage many clients.

You can select the security services you like from a variety of subscription packages. The above pricing includes the appliance and a three-year UTP bundle that enables IPS, malware detection, email and online security, anti-spam, and app controls, and is capped off with complete FortiCare support.

You can deploy using the Forti-Cloud interface or a local web console wizard. We utilised an iPad connected to the appliance’s USB port to configure, register, and upgrade the firmware.

Fortinet’s FortiGuard database categorises the web into eight basic site types and 89 subcategories. You can utilise FortiSandbox to have downloads analysed in the cloud for unknown risks. Other capabilities include monitoring, usage restrictions, authentication, and blocking or allowing entire website categories or subcategories.

Fortinet offers 106 cloud-specific and over 2,000 generic enterprise app control signatures. Policies can track and record programme usage, modify traffic to save bandwidth use, or prevent unwanted behaviours.

Cloud Administration

The local console displays customisable dashboards for security, network services, users, devices, and wireless activities for any Fortinet APs the appliance is handling. A free account enables traffic and app visibility, cloud provisioning, predefined reports, and a rolling seven-day activity log. Any cloud-managed Fortinet wireless APs and switches plug into the same interface. Here, you can do anything you can on the local console.

The appliance interfaces with Fortinet’s Security Fabric ecosystem, which centralises management and monitoring. Installing the FortiAnalyzer software on a Hyper-V host and authorising it with the appliance gave us a complete overview of all threats, web and app activity, compromised hosts, and more.

Although it’s simple to set up and moderately priced, the fortigate 60f Malaysia offers the widest breadth of security features we’ve seen in an SMB-level appliance. When you add in Fortinet’s unmatched remote management capabilities, the appliance becomes quite appealing.
